Bio
Taylor Craven was the valedictorian of the first graduating class from Twin Valley High School in Wilmington, Vermont. He attended the College of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences at the University of Vermont on full scholarship, earning a B.S. in Civil Engineering. During his attendance at UVM, Taylor worked his way through school delivering Chinese food, and substitute teaching French, Spanish, and other classes at Twin Valley High School. Post graduation, Taylor worked at multiple engineering consulting firms. His roles included resident project representative for large municipal infrastructure projects, hydraulic and hydrological modeling for bridges destroyed by Hurricane Irene, residential site design, environmental and safety auditing for railroads, inspection, and surveying. During this time, he served on the Colchester Planning Commission. While working in the engineering industry, Taylor founded Green Mountain Maintenance and Carpentry (GMMC), Bright Future Properties, LLC., and Craven & Emmons, LLC, all companies focused on renovating old homes to create new housing units. In the fall of 2019, Taylor took FMLA to care for his father while fighting pancreatic cancer. He was caregiver for his disabled mother, until she passed in 2020. Following the death of his parents and older brother, Taylor took over the family business, Craven’s Home Services, LLC. He now operates that contracting and maintenance company.
